AGM '02

Soup for the Aiesecer's Soul is a collection of heart-warming, thought-provoking, funny or touching short stories from fellow Aiesecers. Stories can be about international/local events, Aiesec events or personal experiences. Alumni can also share personal thoughts and opinions on international and local issues too. Of course, stories will have to be screened by our thoughtful editorial team (just like real publishers!). Novels are welcomed. So... you have a story to share? Email us!

* Soup for the Aiesecer's Soul is totally suitable for our Muslim and vegetarian friends. Contains no banned substances. Cheers! ;-)

Has your life ever changed because of a group of people you met? The AIESECers have heartwarming recollections of their students days. ANGELINE ANG reports ...

During the recent AIESEC Alumni Singapore annual general meeting on 18 May 2002 at NUSS Guild House at Orchard, we had a very good attendance of members from various batches, from founding members who graduated from the University of Singapore in the 70s to AIESECers who are still in NUS and NTU.

Chandra and Ronald, who graduated in 1980, have fond memories of their student days as AIESECers. They still speak with excitement about the meetings and learning experiences that they had in AIESEC. They remember a particular senior who was especially strict with them. Though they can no longer remember the senior’s name, the way they used to try to make this senior loosen up is, till this day, a favourite topic between them.

Alumni who have not met their peers since graduation had a lot to catch up on, from sharing the latest gossips to exchanging business ideas. Ji Hsien was amazed to discover that many of the AIESECers he knew are still very much the same as he had known them three years ago.

The AIESEC student organisation also took this opportunity to interact with the alumni members. Li Ngan, a current third year student AIESECer, is amazed by the bountiful networking opportunities she had from this alumni event.

A new management team was elected during the AGM. For the next few years, the new team plans to expand its network to AIESEC alumni chapters in other countries, especially those within the Asia Pacific region.
